COME UP HIGHER
In Isaiah chapter 40 verses 1 and 2, the Prophet is speaking comfort to a people, who have been displaced from their homes, and exiled from the temple of the Lord. These words refer to John the Baptist’s testimony of Jesus, the Lamb of God, the promised Christ, who is Lord and God. (Isaiah 40:3)
Do you think these words hold true for our present situation? I say yes, they do. The pandemic we thought was behind us, is still around us. It effects has disrupted jobs, raised rents with regards housing, businesses, brought on severe mental illnesses, intensified health care, and changed ways of travelling all around the world. The atmosphere is shifting. What has not changed is the loving support for all who seek a sincere relationship with God, based on deep comforting faith.
Circumstances around us are vying for our attention and want to distract us. We must stop believing what we see with the naked eye. We must see beyond what seems to be and see the truth. We know the stories in the Bible about Jesus calling the disciples to a higher consciousness. They were mostly fishermen-Peter, and James and John, the sons of Zebedee. Some were tax collectors, for instance, Matthew. Simon, the Canaanite was a zealot, engaged in politics and Judas was a thief.
After Jesus called the disciples, we see them representing the faculties, and powers. A faculty is an individualized center of God consciousness. The disciples and the faculty they developed are: - 1. Peter (Faith), Matthew 16: 19, 9 (2) Andrew (strength), Mark 13:13, (3) James, son of Zebedee (Judgment) John 5:22, (4) John (Divine Love) Matthew 22:7, (5) Phillip (Spiritual Power) Job 22:28, Matthew 28:18, (6) Bartholomew (Imagination) John 1 :50,51, (7) Thomas (Spiritual Understanding) John 14:6, (8) Matthew (Will) Matthew 7:21, (9) James son of Alphaeus (Divine Order) Romans 8:28, (10) Simon the Canaanite (zeal) John 13:16, (11) Thaddaeus (Renunciation / Forgiveness,) Matthew 5:37, and (12) Judas (Generative Life) John 11:25.
You see the disciples could not survive with just their physical professions. They were called to be thrown into the deep, to go deeper in God. We are called to do the same, to go deeper in God. Yesterday’s blessings cannot suffice. We need a deeper level of Faith. This is where we are in this season, ‘Christ in me, my hope of Glory’, Colossians 1:27.
Paul wrote, ‘To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery which is ‘Christ in you your hope of Glory The Hope of Glory is the fulfillment of God’s promise to restore us, and all creation. Claim your restoration, my beloved friend.
Thank you, and God bless us all richly. Thank you.
