Today my talk is on illumination. According to ,'The Revealing Word,' by Charles Fillmore, 'Light is the understanding principle in mind.'  In divine order, light is the symbol of wisdom. Jesus said, 'I am  the light of the world, (John 18 Verse 12).  Isn't it purposeful that light is first mentioned in the first book of the Bible, Genesis, and in the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, light is also mentioned?

 

The Book of Genesis tells us that God gave the greater light to rule the day, (Genesis chapter 1 verse 16 and the lesser light to rule the night. The sun shines on our path during the day, so we can see where we are going. The light also help  provide Vitamin D in our skin. The sun also is important for healthy agricultural crops. While the Book of Genesis talks about the  the use of the physical light in the beginning, the book of Revelation talks about the eternal heavenly light.  Revelation chapter 21 verse 23 says,'The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it.' 'The lamb is the light.' It means that Christ in His glorified state will be the spiritual lamp, that lights up that joyous new world. The Lord Jesus Christ is the lamp of God, who takes away the sins of the world (John chapter1 verse 29)

 

Other books of the Bible have dealt with the topic 'light'. They are Psalm 27, Matthew chapter 5 verses 14, 15, and 16. If we have ears to hear, we would hear words of inspiration all around us. We would be illumined every moment of the day. Where is the light? The illumination of Spirit resides in the center of every man's being, as recorded in Matthew chapter 5 verse 16. When we allow Christ's light to shine, God will send people to us, who are earnestly seeking an answer. I am reminded of the hymn, 'I Heard the voice of Jesus say'. Sing it if you can. 

 

Psalm chapter 118 verse 130 says, ' The unfolding of Thy word giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple'. You must remember at all times that the light is within each and every one of us. We must meditate and let our light shine, as God leads us for His name sake. May God continue to bless you richly.
